How To Make Short Notes For IES/GATE
Short Notes are like your weapons which you will use in the battlefield of exam i.e. when the exam (especially ESE pre/GATE) is near you will be referring and revising from these notes only. Its importance can’t be more emphasized be it any exam.
In this answer I will briefly discuss how To prepare short notes of civil engg for ESE/GATE.
When one should prepare short notes: You should start preparing it as and when you are writing test series for ESE prelims or for GATE, you can prepare before too. The only prerequisite is that you must have your full notes already prepared because you will prepare and extract short notes from your full/comprehensive notes only. Also you must have an understanding of the topic and the exam requirement because you can’t write everything in short notes for ex: the requirement of prelims is very different from ESE mains, that thing must be kept in mind. It must be as concise as possible with all things included.
How to prepare: It must include formulas, graphs, charts, theoretical concepts frequently asked, tricks to solve questions quickly, data tables which are often asked in ESE prelims/GATE, design data of units like in steel, RCC, Enviro which can be asked in objective questions .
Also you must keep some sheets blank after every topic because you will add some new concepts which you learn in test series, or some new questions/formulae.
Make a habit to note down your mistakes also in short notes so that you can learn/cram those and not repeat it again, those are quite handy in reducing mistakes .
For completely theoretical topics like Building materials mark in full notes using color and directly revise from there instead of making its short notes
